Pet Oxygen Mask Donation-Invisible Fence Company

Today, Invisible Fence Company in Millsboro, donated 2 all-inclusive sets of pet oxygen masks to your Millville Volunteer Fire Company.  These specialized masks will be incorporated with other life-saving gear already on the fire apparatus. They will be employed in the event a domestic animal suffers such an injury that necessitates oxygen to be resuscitated. 

Firefighters and EMS personnel have already received training in the use of these masks.

Those responsible for today are as follows:  Justin Ward from Invisible Fence of Millsboro and his technician, Joseph Harshberger.   Shawn O’Brien, Petco Supervisor, and Kristi’s Kats. 

Ocean View Police Department K-9 Officer, Justin Hopkins, demonstrated the large oxygen mask on his canine, Hardy.  Hardy quickly adapted to its snug fit.  Delaware State Police Corporal’s, Todd Buchert (Troop 4), John Wilson (Troop 7), and Charles Fidler (Troop 4), demonstrated their K-9”s proficiencies in quickly pinpointing a traffic cone that was treated with a chemical agent that mimicked a bomb.  Once the dog located that particular cone, he immediately when to a sitting position which represents a positive discovery. 

Millville Volunteer Fire Company members were there in numbers.  Those in attendance were as follows: Captain Jack Melson, EMS Lt. Brain McConalogue, Lt. Greg Hocker, Lt. Frank Rickards, Chief Engineer Dave Carr, John Stephens, Harry Warburton, Ralph Hitchens, Joe Vonakis, and Jason Baine. 

EMS career staff consisted of the following EMT’s: Lt. Brian McConalogue, Steve Gilbert, Carl Hagerty, and Aaron Cooper.
