On Friday, 11 May 2018, at 1721 hours, your Millville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted by Sussex County EOC for a structure fire in the 37000 block of Alabama Drive in the Plantation Park subdivision.
Due to the class of this call, our neighboring fire companies, to include, Bethany Beach, Roxana, and Frankford Volunteer Fire Companies were also alerted to assist. The first arriving engine acknowledged a working fire since smoke and flames were evident. Chief Brian Martin (BBVFC) took command in fighting this house fire. As the pictures depict, there was significant fire damage to the right side of the home and extended innermost. No doubt the interior experienced smoke damage. Considering how intense this fire was upon the arriving equipment, it was attacked in such a way that it was deemed under control in record time.
Sussex County Paramedic Unit, 105, Cassandra Petralia, was on scene to provide rehab duties to the firefighters.
Chief Martin stated that at the time of this report, no individuals had been injured, the fires origin is unknown and under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshal.
Millville, Bethany Beach, and Roxana Fire-Police were all utilized in diverting vehicular traffic around the fire scene.
