May 25, 2018
On Friday evening, 25 May 2018, at 1845 hours, your Millville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted by Sussex County Emergency Operations Center for an Odor Investigation in the 34000 block of Central Avenue. EOC also alerted Roxana VFC to assist. A number of pieces of fire apparatus from each fire company were at the scene researching for the foundation of the odor. Both MVFC and RVFC sent several Fire-Police, commanded by Captain Jack Melson, to detour traffic around the fire equipment stationed along Central Avenue.
Deputy Chief Paul Sterling was tasked with commanding this incident with his Aide, Pump Operator Dennis Ayres. Deputy Chief Paul Sterling stated the origin as being a “Light ballast in the garage. We shut off the power and removed the bulbs for the homeowners.”
There were no reported injuries suffered by the firefighters or occupants of the dwelling.
Thanks to our friends at Roxana VFC for their assistance.
