          It is with sadden hearts that we announce the passing of life member Ralph L. Hitchens Jr.  Ralph (64)  joined the Millville Volunteer Fire Company Inc. on February 17, 1976 and remained active until his passing, 44 years of continuous service.  Ralph served as Ambulance Captain from January 1988 thru 1997.  He was awarded Ambulance Captain of the Year by the Sussex County Volunteer Ambulance Association in May 1993.  Ralph could always be found in the kitchen frying chicken for our dinners or assisting the Auxiliary with their functions.  Ralph was our Archive person and Antique custodian.  The 1955 Cadillac Ambulance was his pride and joy.  He attended many parades and car shows and brought many trophies back to the fire company.  Ralph’s full obituary can be found at Watson Funeral Home Millsboro website at www.watsonfh.com.   A Celebration of Life with Full Fireman Honors will be held Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Millville Volunteer Fire Company 35554 Atlantic Avenue, Millville DE  19967 with calling hours 1000 to Noon. Funeral service at Noon with committal at the Laurel Hills Cemetery in Laurel DE.  Any Company wishing to participate with apparatus are welcome, please contact Lieutenant Tyler Bare.
