Are you curious as to why the detours on Central Avenue?
On Monday, 20 June 2022, at 1229 hours, Sussex County E.O.C. dispatched Millville VFC to an automobile collision to the intersection of Central and Betts Avenues. There was also a report that overhead utility wires were involved and downed.
Engines 84-2, 84-4, and Rescue 84 responded, along with Fire-Police. Sussex County Paramedics were also on-site for support services. Assistant Chief Walt Johnson stated, “two vehicles were involved, of the 3 vehicle occupants none required transport to a medical facility”. Considering the pictures, which is good news.
Due to the utility pole being broken into 2 pieces, Central Avenue will be closed for 5-6 hours in that area and Fire-Police will be there directing traffic.
Assistant Chief Walt Johnson oversaw the scene today while EMS Chief John Watson was there to oversee any injured parties. Captain Tietmeyer oversaw the Fire-Police and traffic point control.
Ocean View Police Department Corporal Brian Caselli was the lead investigator.
