Training on Electric Vehicles held at MVFC

December 13, 2022

On Tuesday December 13th, 2022 at 1900 hours the Millville Volunteer Fire Company held its monthly training night.  The topic presented was “Electric Vehicle Safety for Emergency Responders”.  The instructor was Mr. Bob Ricker from the Delaware State Fire School.  Discussed were how to render an electric vehicle safe, extrication considerations, charging station hazards and fire scenarios involving electric vehicles.  We would like to thank Mr. Ricker and the staff at the Delaware State Fire School for offering this class, it was outstanding!  As more electric vehicles take our local roadways, first responders must educate themselves in the safe handling of these types of incidents.  Members of the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company were also in attendance.  I would recommend to our fellow fire and emergency service colleagues to schedule this class as it offers some of the most current information available.
