On September 12th, 2023 at 0447 hours the Millville Volunteer Fire Company along with the mutual aid box alarm assignment were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 32000 block of Roxana Road. Units arrived to find a 1 ½ story single family dwelling with fire showing from the rear of the home. Several attack lines were placed in service bringing the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes. All occupants were able to escape prior to the fire company’s arrival; all subsequent searches were negative. Several family pets perished in the fire. Units operated for approximately 2 hours. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investing the cause of the fire. The Red Cross is assisting the family. Engine 84-2, Engine 84-4, Rescue 84, Tanker 84, Traffic Control 84-13, Command 84-8 and Ambulance D-84 made the response. Fire Chief Walter Johnson had command of the incident. Mutual aid was provided by the Bethany Beach VFC, Dagsboro DVD, Frankford VFC and Roxana VFC. Stand-by coverage was provided by the Millsboro VFC, Bishopville VFC and the Ocean City, MD Fire Department. #millvilledefire
