On Sunday September 24^th, 2023 at 1607 hours the Millville Volunteer Fire Company along with the Sussex County Paramedic and the Delaware State Police Aviation division were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle collision involving a bicycle at the intersection of Central Avenue and Substation Road south of Ocean View.  Units arrived to find one patient in the roadway with serious injuries.  The patient was stabilized at the scene and then transported to a landing zone at Melson’s Funeral Chapel on Parker House Road.  The patient was flown to Christiana Hospital for treatment.  The Delaware Department of Transportation was requested to respond and provide arrow boards for traffic redirection allowing the Delaware State Police to conduct their investigation. Rescue 84, Engine 84-4, Command 84-8, Traffic Control 84-13, Ambulance B-84, Ambulance C-84, Sussex County Paramedics and Delaware Trooper 2 made the response.  Fire Chief Walter Johnson had command of the incident.  Assistant Chief Eddie Hammond handled the landing zone responsibilities.  Units operated for approximately one hour.  #millvilledefire
