We are proud to announce that many members and staff of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company received the Phoenix Award this evening. Sussex County Medical Services and The Phoenix Club recognize individuals who have survived near-death cardiac events, as well as honor the first responders who assisted them. Tonight, The Phoenix Club recognized 36 survivors and honored the more than 250 first responders for their dedication and service. Many survivors were reunited with the responders that came to their aid for the first time since their emergency.
The ceremony was held at the Delaware Technical and Community College with EMT's, Paramedics, Police, Fire fighters from Sussex County. It was said in the opening remarks that it takes coordinated team work to help save a life and that was evident by the many folks representing all of emergency response in Sussex County.
