MILLVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY APPOINTS NEW EMS CHIEF

Millville, DE – Millville Volunteer Fire Company’s (“MVFC”) President Gregory Hocker and Fire Chief Douglas Scott are pleased to announce the appointment of Guy L. Rickards as the EMS Chief of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company. 

Rickards, a nationally registered paramedic with 30 years of fire and EMS experience, is a retired career officer with the Ocean City Fire Department, where he served as a Battalion Chief.  Rickards also managed the OCFD Rescue Swimmer Program until his retirement in 2020. 

Additionally, Rickards brings extensive operational and administrative experience from the Millville VFC, holding many line officer positions, including 8 years as the company’s Fire Chief.  

Rickards is a National Board of Fire Professionals “Pro Board” Fire Officer IV and has attended the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (“MFRI”) Staff and Command School. Rickards is also an instructor for the Delaware State Fire School, teaching Fire Academy and Fire Officer Classes.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Guy Rickards, a true fire and EMS professional, to the position of EMS Chief”, Scott stated. “We look forward to supporting Chief Rickards and moving the Millville Volunteer Fire Company EMS service forward in service to the community.”

Rickards will start as the EMS Chief on April 13th, 2026.
