Meet the Millville Engine 84-2 first due engine crew that responded to a recent fire.
Pictured Left to right: EMS Lt. Logan Bowden, EMS Cpt. Tyler Hickman, FF/EMT Megan Hudson, FF Phil Waters. Not shown, Paul Enderson who was part of the crew but not available for the picture.
The first due engines responsibility is to get water on the fire quickly and effectively. Getting a head start on the fire attack is crucial while other crews arrive, and secure water sources and deploy more hose lines, begin searches, ventilation, and ladders established.
Imagine getting alerted at 4:55am - waking up, getting your gear on, jumping into the engine, driving urgently to the scene, assess the situation, pull hose lines off the engine, get into the structure and start putting water on the fire and you’ve only been awake for about 10-12 minutes!! Great work crew!!
