On Sunday afternoon, 28 April 2024, Millville VFC hosted the monthly GEM Drill. Operation GEM is a junior (cadet) firefighter program for children ages 10 to 14 developed to give young people the opportunity to gain experience about fire, rescue, and emergency medical services in a safe, educational, and fun way.

Fire Chief Walter Johnson oversaw this evening’s training session with the children in Operation Gem. Chief Safety Office AJ Moore, Firefighter Gary Caunitis, along with the instructor/parents, from Millville VFC assisted with the training of ropes and ladders this evening.

Dagsboro and Frankford Volunteer Fire Companies are very instrumental in the success of this monumental program.
