On Tuesday morning, 4 June 2024, at approximately 1120 hours, Millville VFC was alerted to respond to Vines Creek at West Roads for a motor vehicle collision. MVFC responded with 2 ambulances, one rescue vehicle, and one engine. EMS Chief Jack Wilson was on site overseeing EMS. It was originally reported that one person was injured, yet no person(s) was transported by ambulance for this 2-vehicle collision, per career EMT/FF Tyler Hickman. Delaware State Police was the investigating agency.
Considering the time of day in which this occurred, traffic was backed up considerably both east and west bound on Vines Creek Road. Fire-Police John Hammen and Bob Stephens did an exceptional job directing traffic. Instead of blocking traffic in both ways, they did intermittent stopping of traffic in both ways to eliminate any lengthy backups. One vehicle operator took the time to tell me to thank the Fire-Police for the way they were directing the traffic around the crash, he was “running late” for a doctor’s appointment.
Kudos to these two MVFC Fire-Police.
