Assist Station 70 With Multiple Vehicle Accident

June 18, 2015

On Thursday, June 18, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched at 1126 hours to assist the Bethany Beach Fire Company with a multiple vehicle accident in the vicinity of Coastal Highway & Fred Hudson Road. Millville responded with ambulance A-84, Engine 84-1, Command 84, & the Traffic Control piece. The responders assisted with patient care and extrication as needed. Ambulance A-84 transported one patient to the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes with non-life-threatening injuries. The situation was declared under control at 1126 hours. Vehicle Fire Assist With Station 70

May 30, 2015

On Saturday, May 30 at 1239 hours, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to assist the Bethany Beach Fire Company with a vehicle fire on the beach in the vicinity of the Fenwick Towers. The firefighters arrived to a Ford Explorer on fire in the beach crossover. The vehicle was engulfed in flames when the responders arrived resulting in a total loss of the Explorer. The situation was declared under control at 1305 hours.

Child Locked In Vehicle

May 24, 2015

On Sunday, May 24, 2015, at 1716 hours, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a child locked in a vehicle in the 33000 Block of Old Mill Way. The firefighters and EMS personnel ended up breaking a rear side window to get the vehicle unlocked. The youngster was checked out and quickly reunited with his parents. Rescue Captain Nick McLaughlin declared the situation under control at 1743 hours. Units responding to the scene were: Ambulances A & C-84, Command 84, 84-0, & the Fire Police. Automatic Alarm - 30000 Block of Quillens Point Road

May 18, 2015

On Monday, May 18 at 0830 hours, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to an automatic alarm at a residence in the 30000 Block of Quillens Point Road, Quillens Point Development. The firefighters arrived to find a malfunctioning alarm. Units responding to the alarm were: Ambulance C84, Engine 6, Engine 1, Truck 84 & the Fire Police. The situation was declared under control at 0855 hours.

Smoke Investigation

April 29, 2015

On Thursday, April 29 at 1116 hours, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a smoke investigation on Dukes drive in the vicinity of the fire station. 84 Command responded immediately to the call and was followed by Engine 1, Brush Truck 84-0, Engine 6, and Ambulance B-84. The firefighters arrived to two open burn piles in a field, which were quickly extinguished. Deputy Cody Lockwood cleared all equipment to return to the station by 1222 hours. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”

April 22, 2015

On Wednesday, April 22 at 1130 hours, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the Providence development. The firefighters and EMS personnel arrived to a commercial lawn mower on fire on a black-topped area. The fire was quickly extinguished. However, the mower was significantly damaged. On Saturday, April 4 at 09:25, the Millville & Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Companies responded to a report of a gas leak in the 35000 Block of Atlantic Avenue. After investigating the situation, it was determined there was no active gas leak, and the situation was declared under control at 09:39.

On Monday, March 16 at 1:35 p.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company responded to a field fire on Powell Farm Road. A controlled burn by a homeowner on Powell Farm Road was unable to keep it contained due to the windy conditions that day. The Millville Firefighters responded with Command 84, A84, 84-0, 84-6, 84-1,84-4, and the Fire Police. Assistant Chief RC Evans declared the situation under control at 2:04 p.m.
