Presidents Day proved to be a cold and busy day for the members of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company as they responded to ten emergencies, 5-EMS and 5-Fire. The day began at 04:37 with an ambulance call for an unconscious subject. The remaining calls were as follows: 06:15, Automatic Alarm; 08:39, Structure Fire at Port Royal Road; 08:47, Sick Person; 10:55, Sick Person; 13:19, Working Structure Fire at Shady Dell Park; 14:08, Automatic Alarm; 14:29, Breathing Problems; 17:24, Sick Person; and the final call at 21:26, Automatic Alarm at Cedar Shores Condominiums. Cold Weather Creates a Busy Morning

January 11, 2015

Cold weather created a busy morning for the Millville Volunteer Fire Company on January 11, 2015. In a span of 80 minutes, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company responded to an automatic alarm at the Salted Rim in Ocean View, a reported gas leak in Ocean Way Estates, and a service call back at the Salted Rim Restaurant. The alarm for the Salted Rim came in at 09:28. A sprinkler head broke at the Salted Rim and flooded the restaurant car. Units in service for 45 minutes were: 84-8,C84, 84-1, 84-6,T84, & 84-4. The reported gas leak came in at 09:57 with units C84, 84-1, 84-8,84-6 & 84-4 responding. The situation was declared under control at 10:13 with the gas leak coming from a leaking gasoline storage container in a shed. At 10:57 the Millville Fire Company was again dispatched to the Salted Rim Restaurant for a service call to assist with cleanup in the flooded restaurant car. The crew on Engine 84-4 responded to the service call at 10:17. It was determined that a professional cleaning company would have to do the salvage clean-up on the flooded car. At 10:27 Engine 84-4 returned to the station.

Gas Leak Extended Operation

December 30, 2014

On December 30, 2014, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company and neighboring Fire Companies responded to an extended gas leak in the Bay Forest Community. The Fire Companies were in service for approximately 6 hours before the situation was declared under control.

EAGLES LODGE DONATES $2000 TO THE MILLVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY

December 16, 2014

At its regular company meeting on Tuesday, December 16, President Frank Culbert of the local Eagles Lodge Aeria 4528 made two donations of $1000 each to the Millville Volunteer Fire Company. The first donation of $1000 was accepted by EMS Chief John Watson in support of the Lucas machine fund drive that was being conducted. President Culbert presented the second donation of $1000 to Jack Melson, Chairman of the Building Fund Committee. The membership expressed its appreciation of the donations from President Frank Culbert with a standing ovation. The first picture shows Eagles President Frank Culbert addressing the membership of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company. The second picture shows EMS Chief John Watson accepting the $1000 check for the Lucas machine from President Culbert, and the third picture shows Jack Melson accepting the Building Fund check for $1000. Once again, the membership of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company expresses its sincere gratitude to President Frank Culbert and the rest of the members of the local Eagles Lodge Aeria 4528 for their very generous $2000 donation. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”

On Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 11 a.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company held a dedication ceremony for a Firefighter Memorial donated by the family of Paul Santa Barbara, a long time professional career firefighter, as well as a dedicated volunteer firefighter with the Millville Volunteer Fire Company who passed away on August 9, 2012 of mesothelioma.
