2-Vehicle Accident

September 19, 2014

On Friday, September 19, 2014 at 1350 hours, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company and Sussex County Paramedics were dispatched to a 2-vehicle MVC in the vicinity of Atlantic Avenue and Irons Lane. The responders arrived to find a Chevrolet Blazer that was rear ended by a KIA Sorento with non-life threatening injuries to any of the occupants. Ambulance personnel provided initial treatment at the scene. Millville ambulance A-84 transported the two occupants of the Blazer to the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, with the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company ambulance A-73 providing an assist to transport one of the occupants in the Sorento to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. Assistant Chief Cody Lockwood declared the situation under control at 1358 hours and turned the scene over to the Delaware State Police for investigation. Units responding to the scene were: Millville's A-84, C-84, 84-1, & Fire Police; Medic 105; and Dagsboro's A-73.

Single Vehicle MVC

The Millville Volunteer Fire Company responded to a single vehicle accident at Double Bridges and Camp Barnes Roads on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 13:50 hours. Single Vehicle MVC with Extrication

On Monday, September 8, 2014, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company responded to its second, single motor vehicle accident of the day at the intersection of Roxana and Burbage roads. The operator of a small Saturn SUV impacted a utility pole on the passenger side of the vehicle. The firefighters performed a mechanical extrication of the operator by removing both the driver side front and rear doors. The operator was transported to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes with possible life-threatening injuries. The situation was placed under control at 16:38. Structure Fire

August 15, 2014

At 0241 hours on Friday, August 15, the Millville, Bethany Beach and Roxana Volunteer Fire Companies were dispatched to an automobile fire in the 600 Block of Bethany Loop in the Salt Pond development with possible extension to a dwelling. Fire Chief Doug Scott arrived at 0250 hours reporting an automobile well involved in fire in the driveway with exposure to a single family dwelling. Engine 84-1 with Deputy Chief Magee arrived shortly thereafter and placed a 1 ¾” hand line in service protecting the dwelling and starting extinguishment efforts on the automobile. Tower 70 arrived second and conducted a primary search and confirmed all occupants were safely outside the residence. Quint 70-4 arrived third and placed another hand line in-service, checking for extension on the interior of the garage. Additional units arrived and established a RIT team for a short period of time. Roxana units were diverted to cover the Millville Fire District. The fire was placed under control at 0304 hours with only exterior damage to the garage. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office was on the scene for investigation purposes. All units cleared at 0413 hours. Units responding to the alarm were: Millville's 84-8, 84-1, 84-6, A84, Rescue 84, Traffic Control 84; Bethany Beach's C70, Ladder 70, Quint 70, Traffic Control 70; Roxana's 90-8, 90-1, 90-4, Traffic Control 90; Medic 105; DNREC; Millsboro's Hazmat 83; and a State Fire Marshall. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”

2-Vehicle Accident

June 24, 2014

On Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 4:20 p.m., the Millville and Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Companies, Sussex County Paramedics, and Delaware State Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Vines Creek, West and Sandy Landing Roads. The ambulance crew, Paramedics and firefighters arrived to a two-vehicle accident involving a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Lexus ES350. The operator of the Tahoe was out of his vehicle and refused treatment for any injuries. The driver of the Lexus was stabilized and removed from his vehicle with no mechanical extrication needed. He was then transported to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes by the Dagsboro Fire Company in ambulance A-73 with nonlife threatening injuries. Deputy Chief Bob Magee declared the scene under control at 4:42 p.m. and turned the accident scene over to the Delaware State Police for investigation. Units responding to the alarm were: Millville Engines 84-6, 84-1, 84-2, & Rescue 84; Dagsboro ambulance A-73; Sussex County Paramedics; and Millville's Fire Police. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”

3-Vehicle MVC

June 17, 2014

On June 17, 2014, at 12:23 p.m. the Millville, Bethany Beach & Roxana Volunteer Fire Companies, along with the Sussex County Paramedics, and Delaware State Police Medical Helicopter Trooper 2, were dispatched to a 3-vehicle accident involving a Subaru passenger car, work van, and a Sussex County Paramedic Unit. The operators of the Subaru and Paramedic Unit were transported to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes with non-life threatening injuries in the ambulances from the Bethany Beach and Roxana Fire Companies, since both of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company ambulances were already in route to Beebe Medical Center with priorpatients having medical emergencies.
