On occasion, a heartwarming story traverses my desk. At 70 years old not much seizes my attention, but this incident pulled at my heartstrings. Recently, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company responded to an alarm call.

On Thursday evening, 4 April 2024, I had the privilege of attending the first in a series of training classes held at the Millville Volunteer Fire Company. The training was focused on company operation.

Early Tuesday morning on March 5th, 2024 at 0545 hours the Millville Volunteer Fire Company along with the Sussex County Paramedics were dispatched to the intersection of Vines Creek Road and Holts Landing Road in Clarksville for a motor vehicle collision.

On March 5, 2024, at the monthly company meeting of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company President Gregory Hocker presented Mr. Jack Melson with a plaque recognizing Mr. Melson for his outstanding service representing the company as the Chief Engineer for the last several years.

On Sunday March 3rd, 2024 several members of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company attended the final day of a Delaware State Fire School Pump Operators Course.

On Friday February 16th, 2024 Mr. Pat Sheardon, with the assistance of Mr. Eric Evans, members of the Scottish Rite, delivered Wawa gift cards to EMS Chief Jackie Wilson for our Firefighter/EMTs to have a meal on busy days.

On Tuesday February 13, 2024 Vice President and Sussex County Officer Diane Koch from First Shore Federal Bank in Millville presented Millville Volunteer Fire Company President Greg Hocker with a check for $500.00 to go toward our Community Hero’s Capital Campaign.
